Someone should give a gong to whoever gave this chain its name. It perfectly reflects the entry level sushi experience that blends fun and fresh, healthy food with high-speed, urban Tokyo style. Modelled on a Japanese ‘kaiten’ sushi bar, delivering food along a counter-top conveyor belt: it may have arrived in the UK as a novelty, but the concept of travelling colour-coded plates is now a fixture. Sushi is still central to the menu, but the chain also serves soups, rice and noodle dishes, salads, tempura and Japanese favourites such as chicken katsu curry, salmon firecracker rice and gyozas. Although the chain is large, the food is prepared on site at each outlet. The sushi menu in the firm’s Cambridge diner offers a good choice and a clear guide to just what you’re ordering. As well as sashimi, there are maki, iso, nigiri, gunkan and hand rolls; try the Yo! Roll, the signature iso (rice on the outside of the seaweed) with salmon, avocado and mayonnaise coated in orange smelt roe.However, if you don’t like raw fish there’s plenty of other choice such as duck dumplings with hoisin sauce or soft shell crab served with sweet chilli mayonnaise.

The sushi is mediocre, but serviceable. The family friendly atmosphere makes this a great place to go with kids, but don't expect the highest quality of Japanese cuisine. Oh, and military members can show ID to receive a discount.
